Deep River Community Thanksgiving Worship

The Deep River Community Thanksgiving Worship will be this Tuesday, November 22. It will be held at Turner’s Chapel AME. The speaker will be Daniel Pittman, pastor at Parkwood Baptist Church. A love offering will be received for Hand to Hand Pantry. There will be a time of refreshments afterwards. Please bring desserts / finger foods to share.

Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is now up with names of children provided by the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. As you feel led, please take a name or two and let’s share the joy of the season with these children in our community. Gifts need to be back to the meetinghouse by December 18th.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Salvation Army / Bell Ringing – The Missions Committee is also partnering up with the Salvation Army as bell ringers on Saturday, December 3rd. Bell ringers will be needed at two locations (Harris Teeter / Skeet Club Road & Wal-Mart Express) from 10AM-5PM. We will be making sign-up sheets available.

Giving Tree

Giving Tree – Next Sunday the Missions Committee Giving Tree will be up. This year we will be partnering with the High Point chapter of the Salvation Army and purchasing gifts for children through their Angel Tree program. Ornaments on the tree will have information on each child. Gifts will need to be back at the meetinghouse December 18 for distribution on December 20.

N.C. Peace Resource Group

N.C. Peace Resource Group – is meeting Thursday, Nov. 17th at Jamestown Friends Meeting. Potluck at 6:00 p.m. and meeting from 7-8:00 p.m. Please bring your ideas, concerns and suggestions on how we may proceed peacefully in our world.

DREAM & DRYP – Jamestown Christmas Parade

We have been invited to be on the float for the Jamestown Christmas parade by the Jamestown Lions Club on Sunday, December 4th. We will meet at the Town Hall about 2:15 p.m. and prepare a simple Nativity Scene for the children. Start is at 3:00 p.m. We will need bags of candy to throw out and have costumes for anyone who can participate. Election Day Prayer

As a way to offer a quiet space for prayer, we will open up the meeting room / sanctuary on Tuesday morning and keeping it open all day for folks that simply want to come by and offer silent prayers or have a space to simply be in silence. There will be no organized worship or prayer. You simply come and go as you desire. We only ask that your hold the space in silence out of respect for others…

Election Day

Just a reminder that this coming Tuesday, Election Day, Deep River Friends will be a polling place. The Fellowship Hall will not be available all day. If you ned to enter the building for any reason, please use the doors under the breezeway.

Blood Drive

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, Deep River Friends will be hosting a blood drive for Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. This is an organization which holds blood drives in which all blood donated stays local and within the community. The times will be 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. You can make an appointment by calling the office at 336-454-1928.
