Presentation on Allen Jay

This coming Saturday, Jan. 21, Josh Brown (pastoral minister at Springfield Friends)  will be speaking on “Allen Jay and the Underground Railroad” from 3-4 p.m. in the first floor meeting room at the High Point Public Library. Josh is the editor of the Autobiography of Allen Jay.  There is no charge for this event.

Leslie’s House

If you or a group are able to prepare and deliver food to Leslie’s House for their evening meal (second Tuesday evening of each month), the sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board just outside the Fellowship Hall. Volunteers are needed for the next few months.

Couple’s Tune-Up

The next Couple’s Tune-Up will be Thursday, Jan. 19th. It will be the first one in 2017 and the new year. All couples of the meeting are invited and welcome to attend. We’ll meet in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.

“Digging Deeper” Book Study

Our “Digging Deeper” book study will resume on Jan. 15 beginning at 5 p.m. The book we are reading and discussing is “The Very Good Gospel” by Lisa Sharon Harper. This book can be purchased through Amazon or other retail outlets.

Pilgrims of the Heart

Monday night there will be an information gathering for anyone interested in participating in our spiritual exploration group called “Pilgrims of the Heart.” We’ll meet downstairs in the Youth Room at 7 p.m. “Pilgrims of the Heart” is a journey of spiritual formation that will be designed by the participants. Our goal will be to design an experience that will serve to deepen each person’s spiritual growth.

Deep River Community Thanksgiving Worship

The Deep River Community Thanksgiving Worship will be this Tuesday, November 22. It will be held at Turner’s Chapel AME. The speaker will be Daniel Pittman, pastor at Parkwood Baptist Church. A love offering will be received for Hand to Hand Pantry. There will be a time of refreshments afterwards. Please bring desserts / finger foods to share.

Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is now up with names of children provided by the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. As you feel led, please take a name or two and let’s share the joy of the season with these children in our community. Gifts need to be back to the meetinghouse by December 18th.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Salvation Army / Bell Ringing – The Missions Committee is also partnering up with the Salvation Army as bell ringers on Saturday, December 3rd. Bell ringers will be needed at two locations (Harris Teeter / Skeet Club Road & Wal-Mart Express) from 10AM-5PM. We will be making sign-up sheets available.
