N.C. Peace Resource Group – is meeting Thursday, Nov. 17th at Jamestown Friends Meeting. Potluck at 6:00 p.m. and meeting from 7-8:00 p.m. Please bring your ideas, concerns and suggestions on how we may proceed peacefully in our world.

We have been invited to be on the float for the Jamestown Christmas parade by the Jamestown Lions Club on Sunday, December 4th. We will meet at the Town Hall about 2:15 p.m. and prepare a simple Nativity Scene for the children. Start is at 3:00 p.m. We will need bags of candy to throw out and have costumes for anyone who can participate. As a way to offer a quiet space for prayer, we will open up the meeting room / sanctuary on Tuesday morning and keeping it open all day for folks that simply want to come by and offer silent prayers or have a space to simply be in silence. There will be no organized worship or prayer. You simply come and go as you desire. We only ask that your hold the space in silence out of respect for others…

Just a reminder that this coming Tuesday, Election Day, Deep River Friends will be a polling place. The Fellowship Hall will not be available all day. If you ned to enter the building for any reason, please use the doors under the breezeway.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, Deep River Friends will be hosting a blood drive for Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. This is an organization which holds blood drives in which all blood donated stays local and within the community. The times will be 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. You can make an appointment by calling the office at 336-454-1928.

The Deep River Community Thanksgiving Worship will be Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. at Turner’s Chapel AME.

Don’t forget, if you are signed up to provide flowers for Sunday morning, you can also provide a basket of food in lieu of flowers. On Monday, we’ll take the basket of food and donate it to “Hand to Hand Pantry”. Bonita Schaal is also coordinating an opportunity for friends to give their loose change (and dollars) throughout the month and she will use that to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables for “Hand to Hand” Pantry.

On the second Tuesday of each month, Deep River Friends prepares and delivers food to Leslie’s House. Leslie’s House is a women’s homeless shelter in High Point. We rely on individuals and/or groups in the meeting to take a Tuesday. November and December are available. If you are able to do so, please contact the office. You would be preparing for 25 women. The annual Founders Day will be Sunday, November 6th. Following our meeting for worship, we will have our Founders Day Carry In. This is a special day as we celebrate the founding of Deep River Friends and it’s ongoing story that continues to live on through the lives of each one of us. Invite friends that you know are searching for a church home. We would love to share with them the story of Deep River Friends!

Our Fall Festival will be on October 30 beginning at 4:00 p.m. We will crafts, games and snacks for all! You may come dressed in your costumes or just as yourself. If you want to participate in the Trunk or Treating, please remember we have a few goblins that have allergies to nuts. You may decorate your trunk if you like or you can just hand out treats. If you can help with games or snacks, please let Susie know.
